From 11 September 2026 Vietnam accepts the apostille, so documents no longer need to be submitted to the Vietnamese Embassy in London. Our experienced team will check your documents and apply for the apostille on your behalf.

Why do some documents need embassy attestation?

Some countries are not members of the ‘Hague Convention’. This means that as well as the Apostille stamp being required for your documents, further embassy attestation stamps are also necessary to satisfy the requirements of the overseas authorities. If your documents are for use in a Country that are not included within the Hague Member list then they will also require embassy stamps. As well as providing the Apostille service, we also deal with many of the necessary embassies across the UK that are not members of the Hague Convention and can have the relevant stamps issued for you.

While the apostille itself doesn’t expire, the document it authenticates may not be accepted if considered “old” by the receiving country (e.g. Criminal record background checks). Some countries may request the apostille has been issued recently (e.g. China ask for 90 days). Check with the respective authority to see if there’s a time limit.

If the country you need to use the document in isn’t a member, you might need an additional kind of authentication known as embassy or consular legalisation.

Many countries are members of Hague Convention and have agreed to various treaties. The ‘Convention for abolishing the requirement for foreign public documents’ is a treaty between many countries across the world that confirms if an Apostille is affixed to a document in the country of its origin they will recognise this to be valid and legitimate documentation. Some countries are not signed up to this convention and due to this additional embassy stamps are also required.

Nearly all UK documents can be issued with the apostille certificate. There are a few exceptions that include home office documents that are for use within the UK only. We will let you know immediately if your document cannot be legalised and provide a full refund for our service.

We do not issue apostilles on ‘purchased online’ degrees or false documents. We are a reputable legalisation service. We are pleased to issue the apostille on genuine qualifications but we do not support any individual or online retailer deliberately trying to mislead prospective employers. Sorry, but we have a reputation to maintain.

We do not add the apostille to company documents that ‘claim’ to offer degree level education.

If you have a document that was issued in a country that is a member of The Hague Convention and it is being presented in another country that is a member of The Hague Convention, then it is likely that you will need an apostille. If you have been asked to get an apostille then your document may not be accepted without one. You can find a list of Hague Countries that issues and request apostilles on our website.

If your document was created or issued in the UK then it will be accepted in the UK without the apostille. It is not necessary to legalise UK documents unless you are using them outside of the UK.

If your UK issued document is being used ‘outside’ of the UK, in another country, you may well need an apostille on the document.
