How to Legalise Digital Academic Documents with Apostille?
Historically, nearly all academic certificates and awards were issued as printed paper certificates. Often including water marks, security features and high quality print that is not easily replicated on normal printers.
In recent times, more awards and qualifications are being issued digitally. We have seen an increase in this due to the pandemic. Some issuing bodies are emailing certificates to people until they can prepare and post formal certificates to the UK.
We are often asked if we can accept documents by email.
How we process academic documents that are issued digitally?
Option 1. Ask the university or college to email the documents directly to us. We can then enter into communication with the university to confirm the documents are genuine. This should incur no additional costs or time delays.
Option 2. We can contact the university or college to verify the document. This can take a few days depending on the university. We need you to complete a consent form and provide a copy of the document. This allows us to communicate with the registry office at the college or university to check the certificate copy is genuine. There is an additional fee to cover our time and fees paid to verify the document.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to verify A Levels or GSCE certificates by email. There is currently no facility for checking them.
Option 3. Some colleges and universities provide a secure website or portal that you can grant us access to. We can then download the document directly from the secure site. This incurs no delays or additional costs.
Option 4. Ask the issuing body to provide a printed version of the document and send this official document to us directly. This will incur no additional costs.
Issuing the apostille takes just 1 to 2 days. We will get the copy document certified by our solicitor and add the apostille to the copy. A complete apostille service for academic documents.
